PSY6011   The Fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy   (40 credits)

Description

This module will encourage students to develop a critical understanding of the theoretical and research evidence for cognitive behavioural models and an ability to evaluate the evidence, and will focus on core clinical competencies (skills) necessary in undertaking CBT for anxiety and depression. This covers the therapeutic relationship in CBT, case selection, case assessment, case forumulation and the core aspects of the cognitive and behavioural process of therapy. Clinical workshops provide direct training in applying CBT to anxious and depressive presentations.
